Default Where to find stock 10 bolt cover

Hey guys,

Wheres the best place to find a stock 10 bolt cover for a '02 Camaro SS MS6. I was tighting some bolts because of an exhaust leak and just noticed a little bit of fluid on the bottom of Diff Casing. Needless to say I dont want my rearend to discentigrate. 2 qustions.

1) Best place to get a new cover, just the cover. Already found a cover gasket.
2) Any chance a new cover will make it any noiser? Hopefully NOT!

Thanks!

why do you think you need a new cover? it probably just the gasket leaking. replace the gasket and also add some red permatex to the gasket surfaces and it wont leak.

Take a look at these pic's. It definatly looked like the car some how bottomed how. I can't remember a time when I would have even done that. You be the judge, but it definatly has a small ding on the very bottom!

Definitely click on the pics and you can really get a good look.

cover looks ok, just pull it, clean it, and put on the gasket with a small bead of silicone on both sides.

yeah thats fine, thats not whats causing that leak either, it just needs a fresh gasket with some red rtv sealant.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll go ahead and put a fresh gasket with red permatex on it to help seal with the seal.

I'll let you know how it goes.

i wouldnt use silicon if your using a gasket. you can use it dry with no problems. thats how it came from the factory anyway. all your going to do with silicon is make it harder to replace the gasket next time it leaks or you have to take it off

That bent part wont cause a leak. But if it bothers you, take a hammer and bang it back to shape. haha

yes i agree the prep time takes a little longer but red permatex is fairly easy to peel off. i use it every time and it works wonderfully. i have gotten burned a few times doing dry gaskets. i wont do them again. also, if you want some really bad **** go with the permatex with copper, its in a gold tube.

^^^ just a little fyi

i sat through a permatex presentation a couple weeks ago. the rep said not to use red on anything. it is the worst product they make and for some reason, its their best seller. its also more expensive than the others. he pretty much said dont use any of their silicon products unless it has the word ultra in it. (ultra black, ultra blue) the others create silica (basically sand) which isnt good for anything

So I just got done replacing the gasket and fixing the cover. I also decided not to use the permatex. My buddy just recently got 4.10's and they didn't use it either. The shop just put on a dry gasket. Mine seems to be dry after a day of driving around!

Total project = $18 @ autozone = F T W

xbcrguy182x, I definatly bent the cover back into shape and it looks MUCH better.

I also attached some pic's for your enjoyment.
