Long wheel studs with street tires??
I just got a 9" rear and it came with the longer studs. Their nice for racing but what do you guys do with your street setup? When are the longer studs manditory at the track. They look pathetic sticking out of my chrome rims.

I don't think you need the longer studs until you get into the 9's. IHRA isn't as strict as NHRA. They just want to see open lugs so that they can see the studs. Change the studs for the shorter ones. They are more concerned about a cage than they are for long studs. The rule states that the stud must go at basically at least 1/2 way into the hex head portion of the lugnut. You must use open end lugnuts with aftermarket wheels.

What kind of wheels do you run on the street?
Summit makes a decent open acorn style nut that works, they are cheep to. But with stock wheels no good, the center caps wont fit.
Then the only fix is shorter studs.

If you do decide to use a spacer ,ensure it is hubcentric and not a generic universal spacer, . the weight of the vehicle must rest on the hubcentric and not the studs or else the studs will fail.

I've got 3" studs on the rear on mine with stock 16" formula wheels in the back for streeet duty. I use a generic acorn lugnut I got from oreillys and a long extension to put them on. I don't use the plastic things. Those kept falling off when the car was brand new anyway. The studs stick out past the centercap a bit.
