Default Should I change the gears in my car?

I have a 02 ss camaro, it has 3:23 gears, 3500 converter, 3" ypipe, and subframe connectors. I am going to put LT's with a magnaflow, ported throttle body, slp maf, 100 or 150 shot, and some suspension work and tuned. Not going to spray it much but want it if I ever need it. Should I change to a lower gear like a 3:42, 3:50 something, or 373? I run 1/8th mile, 7.90 is the best I have ever been on drag radials. Not sure if I will ever run 1/4 mile. Will changing the gears help me or hurt me and how bad will it slow my mid and top end down?

for 1/8 mile 4.10 would be good.

3.73s will be a decent improvement in SOTP. Not gonna see a whole lot at the track though. I personally picked up 2.5 mph in the 1/4.

A4 or M6? If M6 go with 4.10's. I have 3.73's on my A4 car, and they turned it into a whole other car from 2.73's!

It will run through gears quicker and with less effort. But as far as knocking loads of time off your 1/4 mile, it aint gonna happen. The car will feel stronger though.

^^^ sorry buddy cant tell you an ET. Track was slick that day. I did trap 2.5 mph higher then I ever had before with the gears being the only change. I have since made other changes so it wouldn't be a direct comparison now.

Going up in gear will make the rear more prone to breakage.
