S60 with Truetrac vs Fab 9 with Wavetrac?
guys i am having a serious problem desiding what to go with. i will list the pluses and minuses here for both rears because to me they are both great for diff reasons.
First the car:
M6 car. Mostly drive the car on the street but do bring it to the track a few times a year. Full weight...3600 with me in it. little over 500 to the wheels now on a 150 shot. Running a 27" slick on the track and launching at about 6000. There are mid to high 9s in the cars future. Im not going with a locker or spool so these rears are my best options.
S60:
Just as strong or stronger gears then 9"...you wont blow these up
No one i know has blown the truetrac in the s60(its huge and strange has tested into the low 9s)
Uses less HP to turn then the 9"
Does not need any bracing for strength...housing is rock solid.
Huge and heavy but strong as hell.
Have to weld LCA relocation Brakets on. 65 bucks plus install
2400 as optioned shipped to my door.
Fab 9 from Midwest:
Totaly fabed housing with integral and light TA with great build quality and options.
Around 50lbs lighter then the s60 they way i want it setup.
Wavetrac is the only posi the could live with what i have planed...the lifetime warrenty sure make you feel all warm and fuzzy..so do those 35 splines but is 450 bucks extra...ya
Ease of pulling the 3rd member out to do work on it.
Price shipped to my door including me selling my spohn TA for 300 to offset some of the cost is 3300.
The price of the fab 9 also includes the option back brace and red powdercoat(i figured if im going to spend the big bucks might is well go all out right ).
So what you guys think...what would be the best for me all things considered and what i do with the car.
If not only for me i would think alot of guys are posibly in the same boat as me and it would be good to discuse.
Thanks in advance guys.
Joe

i just orderd my mid west with wavetec. did you know the wavetec is lighter then the 31 spline true trac?
either way i think the midwest with wavetec is more money. but the wieght savings and the lifetime warrenty on the wavtec make up for the extra cost.
i bout a Midwest 9 with watts set up. rear coil over and wavtec and i will be in the 4500 range on price

My S60 is great! Was a direct bolt in and is relatively quite.
one thing I didn't like was the cheap chrome cover that leaks (Purchased a LPW) and I had to paint it. Other then that I don't think I would of went a different route.
BTW: I lost right around 15Rwhp with the S60

I've heard they all do. There not the strongest and when mine came from strange it had a paper gasket as well as Silicone on it and started to leak after a few heat cycles.
This new LPW one has just silicone on it and hasent leaked a drop.

I've also been considering a 9in with a wavetrac.
I wish there was more feedback on the wavetrac. Supposedly Moser has been beating on them but no real news to report other than they haven't broke...yet.
The weight and lack of a third pinion support has steered me from the Dana 60.

Please do. The only reviews I have found were for FWD applications, nothing for the 9in.
Will it be behind a stick or auto? (Nevermind, I see its a 6060, should be a real testiment if its holds up.)

Give us a call as well. Fabricated housing that is lighter than the S60, Back Brace, LCA, Drain and Fill are standard. We can PC any color you want. We can also use your existing TA and DS.

Do not go True Track with a 6 speed car if you plan on running it at the track. You will get mixed reviews on this issue but I can tell you first hand that the current True Tracks in production ARE NOT the same quality as the old ones. You will get people posting that I have 700 hp with 500 passes blah, blah which I do not doubt, however they usually have one of the older models that are preforming this well or they have autos (not as much shock). Most people are breaking the True Tracks with 400 or less hp at this time, just do some searching, I can name 10 or so members. Wave Track looks good but too new for me to give an opinion, Spool or Locker both are tried and true. I went with the spool when my True Track broke over 2 months ago. I vote Exotic Performance, Bob has been great to deal with.
