Default I need some help quick

The time has now come to rebuild my rear end, and its a bit sooner then planed. So I have a lot of questions and need some help.

Here is what the shop says I need; one new axle, two wheel bearings, and a new ring and pinion.

Here is what I want; taller gears (4.10 maybe) and a 10 bolt (everyone online seems to we I need them)

This is what I don't know. Who is a good vendor to get these parts from? What is an ideal taller gear for a mostly (and will stay mostly) stock LS1?

Should I replace both axles just to be safe and/or balanced?

And I don't really know what a 10-bolt is, does that just replace the differential cover or is it replacing the entire pumkin housing etc. And how important is it really for a car that will never have any real mods beyond the free mods a tune and some exhaust work?

Thanks for all of the help everyone and I will listen to any ideas. I just really don't want to just go with stock replacements from the dealer so any help will be truely appreciated.

If you are an M6, I would get 4.10s. People have their preferences for gears, I personally have had good luck with Motive's. Some say GMs/SLP/AAM (all made by AAM) are the quietest. If I was paying to have a rear end gone through, I would replace all bearings/seals with a master install kit. Whether the bearings are bad or not. If I was needing a replacement axle I would likely source a used one off of here. I dont think they need to balanced to each other at all. 10 bolt just refers to the whole rear end. Its called a 10 bolt bc there is 10 bolts in the ring gear, its also listed as a 7.5 inch 10 bolt bc the ring gear is 7.5 inches in diameter. I personally have had good luck with ordering gears and install kits from Sumiit and WS6store.

Moser can build you a couple of axles for about $250. Takes about a week to get them. Bolt in deal. I have used them in a # of rears and NEVER had a problem with them.
