Default 4.10 gears installation kit?

Anyone did a gear swap to 4.10s? What ALL did you buy with the gears? The complete gear installation kit costs around $123 and the gears cost $225.

Just wanna know if I need the whole installation kit or parts of it? Well which parts? Thanks

Trying to go cheap? You know how that usually ends up.

If you plan to buy gears and an installation kit, check out Thunder Racing's gear package. $399 with everything you need and a few extra goodies.

The thunder kit is nice. If you don't want to rebuild the rear end you can just buy a shim kit for cheap. I personally wouldn't reuse bearings. Opt for the master kit and refresh the whole rear end.

Does Thunder Racing have a Master Kit or where would you guys recommend I get a "refresh kit" to make my 10-bolt feel as "new" as possible & within spec?......

I believe the thunder kit is $399. It includes a master Ratech rebuild kit, Motive gears, and a TA aluminum rear cover.

Btw, I have always used ratech's kits with good success so far.

I went with the Ratech deluxe kit as well. I didn't get the TR package, because I didn't feel like spending extra money on the cover. The Ratech kit comes with all bearings, shims, and seals that you will need for a complete gear install. The bearings are good quality too, mine came with Timken, Koyo, and Torrington. I'd get a Fel-pro gasket to replace the crappy cork one that comes with the kit though.
