Default 4.10 or 4.11 gears for 12 bolt?

Which ratio is stronger?
What brand makes a set that is strong but quiet enough for the street?

I'm pretty sure 4.10 is the ratio used in a 10-bolt, and 4.11's are what you get in a 12-bolt. There is no choice between the two ratios as far as i've seen.

i have motive 4.10's that i am still breaking in. and they make absolutely no noise. Noise all depends on how well they are set up and how hard you beat on them... pm me and ill give you me full rear end set up and who did it. i also have a 10 bolt

I believe a 4.11 gear is stronger than a 4.10 because it has 37 ring and 9 pinion teeth versus 41 ring and 10 pinion. Fewer teeth mean larger and stronger teeth.

The 4.11 would definitely be stronger because a 12 bolt ring gear is 8.875" where a 10 bolt 4.10 is only a 7.5" ring gear.

You sure? More splines on a shaft usually makes it stronger. Are gears different?

You can get both for the 12 bolt. OEM's were 4.11, but the aftermarket offers 4.10

Interesting...I believe you are correct! 41/10 or 37/9, it looks like Richmond sells 4.10's. I learned something new today
