Default what is good upgrade for stock rearend

First off, I have an a4 and heard it is not as hard on the rearend as a manual. How much power can the stock handle? What upgrades do you recommend for the 10 bolt, I don't have the funds to put a 12 bolt or 9 in back there. Any input would be nice.

Tons of info with a search here but... save. Don't put a dime into it other than maybe an oil change. They just aren't meant to be beat on. Throw it in an account and ride it out until it goes!

with an A4 some break at stock HP and some hold 500 HP with street tires. As to cost to up grade that can get to be costly allso, with the upgrade in my 10 bolt I have about as muck as a 12 bolt or 9 " costs. and still it is a 10 bolt. I pull 1.64' in the 60 ft with MT drag radials.

I will add I am still on a 10 bolt ( have a 9 in ready on the ground ready to go in.)
my A4/10 bolt/ta cover with supports/detroit locker/3.73/ mos axels/welded tubes/mt drag radals/air bags/adjust ta on body mount/relocate brackets/adjust lca/MID- 11'
I suggest you try to find a 12 bolt 0r 9 ".
if you must try to keep the 10 bolt alive I suggest the TA Cover/ supports, mos axels, locker
Good luck, Johnny

I have been through seven 10bolts in my car... 3:42s were ok, 3:73s were like paper, 4:10s were the most durable... I know it doesn't make any sense other than if you are spinning you are not breaking. The only thing i would spend money on to strengthen up a stock rear is the t/a girdle.

Is the car stock? is it staying that way? if so, girdle the diff and go on. A built Rearend isnt worth much if you have a stock car.
