Default 8.8 Carriers...

I recently bought an old 8.8 (link in sig of the build) it has an open diff in it if im right. how are those ? i plan on buying new spider gears for it along with gears and bearings.

My car is a DD and i drive it hard everyday (thus building an 8.8) would a limited slip be more beneficial for a setup like mine ? i can get a brand new ford racing 8.8 LSD for $270 through summit. would that be a better course then reusing the open carrier i have? thanks

I would get a trac loc and rebuild it with the CF clutches, guys are running single digits on that diff all day.

so dont get this ?

how bad would an "open" diff be for daily driving/hard driving around turns?

the link you posted is not an open diff that is a ford trac loc and its a posi unit that uses spider gears and clutches. That should hold a good amount of power its the same unit used in the 03-04 cobras.

Thats because thats the diff i plan on buying. i bought the whole rear with the intentions or reusing nothing but the housing center. i planned on changing out the spider gears anyway. so for an extra $150 if i go with that diff.. it works out real well for me
