AL (383lq4ss) has done some 10.30's @ over 135 MPH on a stock 3.42 geared ten bolt. m6 too..

i've seen some guys on older g-bodied 7.5 ten bolts go faster than that. but it's all a matter of when it's going to break. i personally dont fancy pushing a 3300# car around w/ my 130lb self.

To me it's a matter of how long you can push the 7.5 Stocker past it's limits.

Yeah, 10's are doable. Maybe one time. (Twice if it's your birthday)

Some go and some blow My full weight A4 2000z28 with an ATI went 11.30s @ 121+mph 33 times and the rear sounded like new when I put the car back stock. My 2001 M6 SS broke the first (and second time after it was fixed) to the dragstrip.. Naturaly an automatic trans is a bit easier on them..

I hope this one will last a few passes before it lets go, I'm out of $$ till february

I know two guys in the 10.30 to 10.60 range with automatics and they are still running the ten bolt. Everyone I know with an m6 including myself has grenaded it and gone with a 12 bolt or a nine inch. I know one of the two mentioned earlier has broken a few torsen diffs. If you want to chance it it is up to you of course. I just hope its not your daily driver.

you have the combo I want to run eventually. Except I want to get into the high 11's before I spray.

Me thinks you can probably hit 10.4's with heads!

The biggest mistake you can make is assuming your 10 bolt will hold because somebody else's did. 10 second M6 10 bolts are 1 in a million, trust me. I have seen completely bone stock cars snap 3:42's like twigs. IMO, you're on borrowed time no matter what is done to the car....

A4's are a little different. Several in the 10's on a stock 10 bolt. This is mainly because A4's preload the drivetrain, and there isn't the inital "shock" that an M6 car delivers...

yup, broke mine with the stock motor twice. higher gears like 3.42s seem to last alot longer then 4.10s do. this is because the pinion is phisically bigger. also i think that 383lq4ss only did that one time. if he were to try it some more times it will break very quick. if he had 4.10s, i am sure it would of broke on that run. personaly, i am seriously debating on installing a TH400 and foot braking it to get some more life out of the 10 bolt for now.

Well, I am just doing this until it lets go. I have been told I am on borrowed time for over 2 years now. So far so good. I know it will let go eventually, when it does.....9 inch will be going in. Thanks for all of the replies. I hope I get close to the record.

Mine was that way. Stock, it ate up the gears like gummi bears. What to do now...

I finally just pulled mine out to do the 12 bolt. I diassembled it and only found the left axle with a slight twist to iy. Very very minor. It has about 20-25 ten second passes and a ton od 11.0-11.3s on it. Sixty foots ranged from 1.55 to 1.65. 5000 rpm clutch dumps on ET streets.

The very last run with about 630 rwhp I was a bit nervous because I knew I could run a good ET...I didnt want to spit out an axle at 80 mph. I am very glad im going to a stronger rear.
