Default Advice?

Lets be real, who wants to dish out $2.5k for a rear end when you can buy a car that has one on it? The rear end alone costs 25% percent of the car. What would you do?

Yeah man I wouldnt want to buy somebody elses dream. There are a couple things to do to strenthen the 10 bolt to hold you over till you can save up for a new rear end, plus if you get an auto you can take them pretty far on a 10 bolt.

depends on ur setup and what u plan to do to the car. big thing is if your m6 or a4. like said, if ur a4 u dont need to do much and would most likely be able to ride the 10 bolt out a while. if you push the car pretty hard i would recommend calling midwest chassis. they set me up great. they will build your rear around what you have done to the car and what you plan to do. they are very thorough

edit: if you were askin what needs to be done to strengthin a 10 bolt i dunno what to tell ya. if your an m6 your gonna have over 2.5k in fixing/replacing 10 bolts so may as well put the money towards somethin stronger

You can get a rear diff cover, puts more pressure on the bearings if Im not mistaken. You can get your axle tubes welded, and a stronger ring and pinion. Those are three things you can do that are pretty inexpensive. +1 for midwest chassis when you get the money saved up.

not a lot of burnouts. i beat on it pretty hard i guess, but no different than any other car thats raced and drove like it was built to be drove. 4.10s, powershifting, etc played a role in that no doubt

Anything can break on it, as these rears were initially designed by GM to be used on 4 cyl vehicles. As you put money into one item on the 10 bolt, the next weakest link can break, turning the 10 bolt into a money pit. Bob
