Default aluminum drive shaft

what 4th gen cars came with aluminum driveshafts. I need one for my race car build. thanks Lee

1LE cars did. Good luck finding one. I think the SS did also and the cars with the performance rear axle.

I have one from an SS. How strong are they supposed to be compared to standard shafts? I thought they all were aluminum in the later years.

I wouldnt' use a stock aluminum driveshaft for a racecar build. Get an aftermarket one. first launch and you will be pushing up on the trailer.

when I installed my 9" I noticed my aluminum ds was twisted about 1/2". I replaced it with a steel ds.

That's what I thought. I have a perfectly good, stock aluminum driveshaft for sale.

All M6 car came with one
All SS auto's came with one
All Z28 Auto's with the 3.23 rear gear came with one

All Auto Z28 2.73 rear gear cars had steal.

I road race and it shouldn't be an issue. I just want less turning mass behind the engine. Engine will turn up a little quicker.
