The gears need to be set up again.More than likely the pinion depth is wrong.Pretty common with Moser's.

i see, is that a pretty hard obstacle to tackle? I have never messed with a rear end, should I let a shop do it, or any good write-up's out there for it?

Find a good quality shop that can do it for you. A friend of mine here just had his done by a mechanic from a VERY reputable shop on the side and he paid $150. he said his is WAAAAYYYY better now. I need to have mine done cause my Moser screams like a Biyatch

well by now you need a new set of gears since the pattern has been set now.if you do want them quiet have a good shop reinstall them and set them up.
i had the same problem with my Moser, they gave me a lame *** excuse and wanted me to take the rear back out and send it to them, yeah right. i knew it was the lash so i broke down and bought a new set and havent had a problem since.

It seems that every time I launch on slicks that mine gets louder.

pretty much as soon as it starts to whine its done, the wear pattern has been set.
i know it sucks ***. Moser put up a disclaimer on there website about gear noise and how they set the ponion with more Toe so longevity.. i have since worked on cars that turn high 6's in the 1/4 and pulling 1.06 60ft and those rears dont sound anywhere what my moser sounded like...

Yup, the loud whine is the kiss of death for the ring/pinion. I would know, unfortunately.

I had an expert dial in my Richmond ring and pinion. It's as silent as stock. I also have a Strange on order because I am hoping that they set up the ring and pinion better than Moser.

Historically, I should be fine. Thanks to all who posted about their loud Moser, you may have saved me much anguish.
