Question gears for a six speed SS

my car is a daily driver car. The pinion bearing is out on my 10 bolt so i am having it rebuilt threw MMT. Should i stay with 3:42's or go with somthing else. Any advice is appreciated.

The gear that M-6 cars fit well with is a 4.10.
Only problem is in a 10 bolt the 4.10 is a weak set-up at best.
Why not just have the bearings fixed & if you go to a strip alot then save up for a new rear like a 12 bolt.
M-6 cars are harder on the drivetrain than A-4 cars, it is after all a direct link in the drivetrain.
Just depends how you drive the car & what you want from it.

I can't really add anything to what wrencher said. The 4.10's are a great gear for a bolt-on M6, but in the stock 10-bolt form they're very weak. If it were me I'd only consider a 4.10 gear in a stronger rear like a 12-bolt, 9", etc.

I'm gonna have to stay with a 10 bolt for a while. I was just curious as to change gears or not.
thanks

I would get the 4.10's. It's a blast on the street.

I have 4.10's in mine but if I had it to do over again I would got with 3.73's.
As others have said the 4.10s are a blast on the street, but as a dialy driver gas mileage sucks and It makes me long for skip shift when driving light to light in traffic. I have several friends with the 3.73's that love them.

so 4:10's for a 12 bolt, but 3:73's for a 10 bolt is the way to go?
thanks

I wouldn't waste my money on 3.73's with a six speed.

4.10s in an M6 are fun as hell. As for the "weak" 10-bolt, you need to get a good installer, do a proper break in, and don't go with really sticky tires. I've have my 4.10s for a while now, and I would have it no other way!
