Can't put a real number to that question... too many things affect how a diff unit will last in different applications. One guy may have 1200hp but only weigh 2600 pounds, an other guy may only have 700 hp but at 3200 pounds, but the guy with 600 hp and a M6 car on slicks is the one with a broken Truetrac...

a auto with a mild stall will be less destructive then a trans brake or a manual trans.ask Bob from brutespeed about what you mention could handle.

why not go with a Wavetrac diff and never look back? we can get them in 31 spline and they carry a lifetime warranty. keep in mind a Truetrac uses different axle lengths also that most people selling diff units probably don't know about.

Like I told you in my reply to your pm, I wouldn't go and pay for a Wavetrac for your 31 spline axles and have it limit any future horsepower goals. With your plans of hitting it with a 250 shot of nitrous, I'd upgrade to 35 spline axles at the same time and go with the Wavetrac. Bob

I never broke my truetrack, but I was having problems with it spinning the left side only "sometimes". Absolutely nothing was wrong with it when we pulled it out and went to a spool. I'm very interested about different axle lengths...because I didn't know that, kinda too late now but I'm guessing with my spool, it dosnt matter?

35 spline locker would be same as spool, and 31 spline locker is same as Trac-Loc. Bob

What can Happen with running the truetrac axles with a spoil? I was unaware of the difference when I bought mine 4yrs ago lol. Just swapped to the spool back in July. I havnt noticed anything myself..... If I have to change axles, I'd rather just redue it all. Go to a high spline count and all.

I have a similar issue. From watching videos of myself at the track heating the tires up, my left rear wheel spins far less than my right. I'm 31 spline with a truetrac also. However, I make 440rwhp and dump the clutch at 5-6k all day long and it's held up. Unfortunately, I'm not dead hooking tho. Best 60' is a 1.68.

You got it together and you've been running it since July, so I would say you don't have anything to worry about. Sometimes if the axles are too long you can grind a little off the end without messing up the splines. In your case apparently it went together just fine. Bob

With the Truetrac you're going to have conditions where one tire may spin less than the other, as it is a limited slip. Bob

The Detroit Truetrac is the first gear type limited slip differential in the industry. It's patented design of parallel axis planetary helical gears provide a quiet, automatic splitting of torque. Power transfer goes literally unnoticed by the driver – even in front wheel drive axles. The Detroit Truetrac performs like an open differential under normal driving conditions and automatically transfers torque to the wheel with better traction when ground conditions warrant. The limited slip responds instantly to torque feedback, anytime, at any speed. Available for 12 Bolt Chevy cars, Ford 8.8 rear ends, and Ford 9 applications, the Detroit Truetrac’s proven design, low cost and effective performance make it the choice of off-road, street, and strip enthusiasts everywhere.
