Default Some Questions for the Axle Guru's, Please Help!!

1- I have a 00 Z28 Auto, GU2 (2.73) gears, no traction control and need a rear end, what years will bolt up?

2- Are the 00's supposed to have a posi unit? jacking up my rear and turning one tire results in the other one spinning in the opposite direction (car in park), putting the tranny in neutral only one spins??

All 4th Gen v8 cars came with a posi. You need a 93-02 f-body rear, preferably one with the same options as yours you are replacing, ABS, no TCS. Other then that, its a free-for-all. Tune will have to be changed for gear differences, and you will have to steal your LS backing plates and brakes if you get a 93-97 LT rear.

V6s should fit also but only some of those were optioned with a posi. I'd stick to a V8 rear for simplicity.

Got a 00 WS6 rear end, 3.42 though, will all I need to do is go into HP Tuners and change the gear ratio? What happens if I don't will it still drive?

And your odometer will rack up the miles faster than reality.

1. Jack up the car (duh )
2. Remove wheels, rotors, that kind of thing.
3. Disconnect brake hose going to the axle (you'll lose fluid, maybe just get a new hose so you can cut and pinch off the old one).
4. put jack under the pumpkin.
5. Unbolt shocks, remove springs (using jack to raise/lower the punkin as needed).
6. Unbolt the torque arm
7. Unbolt driveshaft
8. Unbolt panhard
9. Unbolt LCAs
10. Drag rear end out from underneath the car.

That's the gist of it anyway.

Depends on 3ch vs 4ch axle I think. 3ch has a single line running to the axle, then lines running along the axle tubes to each wheel. There is a hose that connects the lines on the axle to the line on the chassis.
