Default What gear for new rear

Im about to order new 12 bolt for car and wondering what gear to order. I was thinking of 430 gear but I dont know if it will have enough rpm to make it to the 1/4. Mods are in sig.

Im not sure if it would be the same way but my grandpa races super stock and he has 530 gears in his car and he doesn't have a problem running out of gear on top end. Not sure if it would be the same with our cars or not.

Run a 28 in tire and the 4.30 gears should be fine

Are there any guys out there that have ran a 4.30 gear in similar set up. Car has 28" tall tires and is pretty much track only car.

We have 4.30 gears in our '95 Formula, which has a turbo 400 with a 4000 stall, Moser 12 bolt and 28" tall tires. You'll be fine on the rpm. Bob

You may consider a 4.56 if the engine is capable of 6800 rpm, and especially with a 28" tire. if you are gonna be on a 26" tire then the 4.30 will be the way to go.

Another thing to think about is the 12 bolt rearend choice. Nothing wrong with a 12 bolt, but the f-body cars are much harder on the 12 bolt than most any other car due to the torque arm. If you have not looked into a S60 or 9 inch I would suggest at least checking out those options.

Give us a call and we will shoot it to you straight and just not sales pitch to make a buck. A rearend is a pretty big investment and you need to do it right the first time.

Take a look at the info that I put together here regarding the 12 bolt vs the 9 inch. While I haven't told you to call me or sent you to links to the Moser rears that I sell, I will tell you the Moser rears ship out in just two days, not weeks or months. Bob

Thanks for all the input and after reading the info on brutespeeds website I think im leaning more towards a 9'" rear with 430 gears.
