moser 9in, and body
wasnt sure exactley where to post this,
wondering what ppl are doing for clearance issues
with the moser 9in rear, and where it hits the body.
i know im gonna get a response saying just clearance
the body with a hammer, i dont wanna do that....has
anyone actually cut the body and welded in sheetmetal
so the rear will not the the body? plz post pics!
thanks in advance!

not sure what your talking about, I just finished swapping my 9" in and did not have any clearance issues with the housing and the body anywhere. If your talking about the tire making contact with the fender lips, that is an issue with your tire width and backspacing, not the rear end housing. The only clearance issue i had with the 9 inch was with the torque arm mount and the webbing on the 9 inch center section, had to grind the webbing down a bit.

That's strange...my moser 9 sits even lower than the 10 bolt...no clearance issues. If I did have a problem I have adjustable ride height by ground control...that might be an option...fix the clearance and get your stance exactly where you want it.

I've corrected some with 9 inch rears with clearance problems by using a pry bar. All you have to do is to shove the pry bar up between where contact is being made, and pry the floor away from where it is hitting. The sheetmetal moves easily and you'll never see this from inside the car. Bob

I know the exact problem that you are speaking of. I had stock springs and the top of the tq arm mount / bolt head hit the floor many times. I even lowered the bump stops to try and prevent it.
A few weeks ago I decided to pull the rear and get it narrowed and when I pulled it out, I saw that the rear hit the floor and I have a 1.5" crack in the floor. I have since fixed the crack and pounded the floor as much as it will go, and have the bump stops lowered. Since it is put away for the winter I don't know if the problem is fixed but I will see in spring. I never went over big bumps either. I have the older stamped housing, but yeah you are not alone. It actually hits in 2 places. The worst being the one where the seperate tunnel piece is multiple layers thick.
Unfortunately I have no pics handy of the actual damage to the tunnel, but in the pic here you can see there the mount was ground and the rust is one of the points that hit the floor. Other hit point which isn't shown is the upper bolt head on the Moser mount.

Mine did this with my Moser 9". (lowered on strano springs) It clearanced itself. I had blown rear shocks at the time and it caused the rear end to slam under the car over bumps. replaced shocks, and removed bump stops. Never had the issue again. Though last time I checked underneath there was a good dent in the body where it was hitting.

That's a good idea. I will see how it is next year and decided how to go from there. I should be safe at the moment since I made bump stop offset spacers since I had the rear narrowed and changed offset rims to pull the wheels inward 1" more.
Adding metal for clearance there will be nicely hidden by the interior.
