Default The Right Gear For A 3000-3500 Stall Converter

The Guy From Summit Said My Coverter Could Of Caused My Tranny To Go Bad Since I Have The Stock 3:23 Gears.

He Said I Should Have 4:10 Gear's, I Kind Of Think It's Too Much I Wanted The 3:73's But If That Is Going To Work Best I Will Go With That.

well, you don't pick gearing off of your converter. well, yeah, it's all part of the "combination".

i ran a vig3200 stall with 3.23 gears for a LONG time and i know plenty of others have too. What is done to your motor? What are you gonna do to the motor in the future? Are you using nitrous or supercharger? Do you run it at the track alot or 95% street?

I *think* what he might have meant is that the looser stall converter causes excess heat in the transmission and can burn up the fluid and toast a trans. That is if you don't have a tranny cooler in line to help keep the fluid cool. Many MANY people have fun a converter with stock gearing. Hell i ran a 4400 stall with the stock 3.23's. It was loose yes, but worked wonderful on the track.

my next goal after tranny is gears and heads.

You should have asked the guy from summit if he is selling any of the crack cocaine he is smoking, it sounds to me like he does not know what he is talking about.

He's just running his mouth. Keep the tranny temps down (simple enough to do) and your tranny won't care what converter is in there.

It's funny to see how many people are morons. Is there any good eplanation for the tranny going bad? I bet he even offered to sell you a set of gears too, huh?

There are plenty of high stalled 2.73 and 3.23 car around. Deeper gears will only make the converter feel tighter. Numerically lower gears are stronger...numerically higher gears are more fun

yeah i got the problem fixed by programming the pcm for the high stall in my 94z28 since some of the obd-1 cars can act pretty funny when upgrading to a higher stall..

as for gears i bought a complete rearend for 500.00 dollars with with 4:10 gears in it, which is going in after i get married (in 4 days), i can't wait to see how my a-4 4l60e is going to behave with gears.
