Default pulling the carrier out of a dana 60

Anyone had to do this? I cannot get mine out. I turned the carrier adjuster nuts as much as I could. They look to be about seated almost fully. I cannot get them to turn anymore, I think the threads might be gunked up? The carrier looks and feels like its going to fall out, but it just wont. Ive tried prying. Do I need a case spreader? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

You need a case spreader. It goes into those two big dowel looking holes on each side. They aren't always needed but I had to once. They look like a big C-Clamp sort of. Might be able to borrow one like I did

At home trick. You might need a friend. Use and old t-shirt and jam it between the ring gear and pinion gear. Have a friend turn the yoke, and the shirt will get sucked into the gears. It will pop the carrier right out.

If the rear is a Strange S60 then the adjusters are threaded and should be able to be backed off toward the outsides far enough to let the diff/ring gear fall out. No need for as case spreader. An old school Dana rear will need a case spreader. You did pull the axles out correct?

thanks for all the replies fellas. It is a strange s60 and its a long story. Basically, the passenger side carrier bearing destroyed itself somehow and threw metal shavings throughout the pumpkin. I was able to get the rings seated into the housing enough to get the carrier out, but now I cannot get the rings back in because the threads are screwed up. I dont know if anyone sells a thread chaser/tap that big, but as of right now I have an empty s60 and a non functioning car :/. Im going to call Strange today and talk to them about my issue and see what could be done. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a thread of a guy that had a bearing go bad in his S60 too. I think Strange ultimately took care of it.

Strange told me to try a thread file. Tried this tool last night which is actually better for internal threads than a file. Im going to call them again today and see what they say.
