An auto, the first mod should be a stall IMO. A 4k stall if you plan to track the car, 3600 or so if mainly a street car I'd say - but depends on cam size.

I like gears, unlike most mods they give you more seat of the pants everywhere in the rpm band. The only downfall is a tad less top speed and a tad more rpm on the hwy, though the engine is working less. I say go for it.

^^^ I like gears too, maybe too much. 4.56s' for 4 years, blipping the throttle and the front end jumps. The SS3600/4.56s' was incredible,1st and 2nd were beasts, throttle response was incredible. Got the 3.23s' in it now,the rear being built is gonna get 4.10s'. 4.56s'/A4 was too steep for the 1/4. 3.73s' with a good stall seems to be the popular consensus.

I agree a stall should be the first mod to a auto and I do plan to stall it as well . Im saving up for the stall and the bigger cam I was thinking maybe thw tsp 228r cam. I could get gears right now if I wanted alot cheaper lol. I want it still to be streetable what do yall think of 373s or 410s

With the short tires we have, 3.73 is a great gear for an A4. Still very driveable on the freeway. You should have 3.23's now, so I'd do the converter first

Honestly I think 4.10's woud be more fun than the 3.73's, but there are drawbacks as well obviously

Went with 3.73's first then converter second. Gears made a great improvement as a first upgrade. Combined with the converter these two items together gain excellent performance.

There are several vendors you can get a converter for less then half that. Yank PTC Circle D FTI all come to mind.
