Stock 10-bolts, do they go bad with more mileage or just more abuse (HP mods)
I have 50K miles on my pretty stock SS, I was reading that they stock 10-bolts are crap. But is this cause of the abuse from mods or does mileage play a part. I changed my rear end fluid every year.

i have over 100,000 miles on mine and it holds up to daily driving and at least monthly dragstrip use with 3.73's and drag radials - never had a failure. it has seen 3.08, 3.42, 3.73, and just swapped to a 4.10 yesterday all with a posi (auburn, eaton locker, and zexel-torsen in that order) i like the zexel most.

A stock rear that is not abused or raced will last longer than an engine in most cases. These cars have too small of a rear for sure, and are abused in many cases. Changing your fluid every year is overkill, but it may prolong its life.

Haha I blew mine to hell today, 9" on the way! I figure its cheaper to get a new 10 bolt or get this one fixed, but then what happens when it blows again? And again? I want to put sticky tires on it because i have excessive wheelspin.
