Default Can Somebody Tell Me The Difference Between a 9", 10 bolt, or 12 bolt

I'm trying to decide on what rearend to go with that will handle a 9 sec ET no problem. But my question is what is the difference between a 9", 10 bolt, and 12 bolt? i see Moser sells a 12 and 9 bolt. whats better and stronger?

Yes the 9" is stronger. If you get one make sure and get an upgraded pinion support, thats the weak link in a 9".

Hey, like we talked about earlier today, I would call Moser and see what they say. If you have a certain rwhp in mind, they should be able to tell you which is better. Although, since the Moser 9" is cheaper, why not go with that from the get go. You know it's strong, and you could get the upgraded parts mentioned above for the cost of a standard 12 bolt.

Ha, you've got a ways to go for 9's:

10 bolt = stock GM rear, lightest weight, but stock LS1's can easily break them withy stick tires.
12 bolt = Upgraded GM rear, designed for the 60's muscle cars. Much stronger, about 30 lbs heavier than a 10 bolt, available with ABS and TCS. A4 cars can run them well into the 10's normally.
9 inch = Ford designed rear, the classic hot rod rear, and nearly bullet proof. Much heavier than the 12 bolt (I'd guess 50-75 lbs from my experience swapping rears), difficult to get ABS on, I don't think TCS is available. 9 inch is the strongest of the three, and the one most M6 guys wants since they hit the rear a lot harder than an A4 does.

I have a 3:73 Moser 12 Bolt.

There is a 9 bolt as well. Called the Aussie 9 bolt made by Borg-Warner. Used in some 3rd gen camaros/firebirds.

The 9" is stronger though, second comes the 12 bolt, and then the crappy 10 bolt.
