Sounds like a power problem. You should be able to roast them w/2.73's.

Ya by dumping the clutch...im talking clutch fully engadged then flooring the pedal == almost no spin! what gives? I was pretty sure i could do this with my 3.42's...

Well if the wheel is not spinning sure the clutch is not slipping? That is a feel not a real repeatable test per-say. How fast you roll, road surface etc. It is harder to bust the tires when the car is already rolling.

You should have zero problems roasting those tires with 4.10s.... even on a 1st gear roll.

on my 245's i can only light them up from a roll half the time in first.

hope this helps, pavement has a huge impact on whether they will spin or not.

some pavement just sticks in all gears, other i can spin by rolling into the throttle in 3rd

I was able to spin my 1st gear with SZ50's (275/40zr17) with my stock engine (299rwhp/312rwtq) and 4.10's, from a stop or a roll. The only time I had traction was with passengers in the car and a full trunk. IMO you should be able to roast those F1's.

Honestly, I went back to 3.73's (12 bolts) after modding the engine because of these traction issues. Best move I've done so far!

with those 4.10's you shouldn't have any problems. I am back to stock and I can light them up going from 1st to 2nd in a roll, and continue to burn them halfway through 2nd then i bark them in every gear after that except 5th and 6th. If you are rolling at 20 mph and just floor it you shouldn't light them up. If you lite them up at a 20 mph roll what is the point. I have always had to switch gears or pop the clutch to get them to spin after 20 mph and I am stock, with 3.73's

You guys that can't spin the tires on a first gear punch must have a few plug wires loose. I can KILL my SLICKS punching it in first gear.

What he said, I have had 3 sets of 4.10's and its a huge difference and 1st gear rolls are fun whenever I want to spin the tires. But pavement def. pays a difference. Clutch also but when my clutch was slipping bad I could still spin them in 1st...but 1st only.

That Spec III only has 3K on it if that...And it does grab hard so i don't think its sliping. I'm beginning to think my torqe arm may be busted or a motor mount...How hard is it to replace the motor mounts? Recently I had my hood lifted and had a friend put it in revese, hold the brake and begin to let the clutch out... and the engine torqued so much i don't know how its not hitting the hood when the hood is down!! Is this normal?

Man, I just switched back to 3.73s because of tractions problems and just having problems with the 4.10s in general. Lemme tell ya though, it didn't matter where I was. If I was doing like 20-30 in first and nailed it, it would always blow the tires away. At the track on my 13.1 pass, my 60' wasn't any worse than it had ever been on street tires. It was when it hit about 4000rpm that the tires broke loose. Then I had to pedal it at the top of first and some in second. Fun but slow. May wanna check for knock retard or something, because my car was getting some false knock due to y pipe hitting underneath the car. The moment I hit the gas this would happen and kill my power. Seemed like I had nothing when I smashed it. Fixed it and the tires wouldn't stop spinning...lol. Just something else to ponder.

If you want to race with 4.10, better be looking into some stikcy ******* tires! I have gone out 3 times with my 4.10s and i cant get a good r/t or 60. Before i had them i would always run consistant r/t .02 or under. I just got my m/ts so im really excited to take her out and run the bejesus out of HeR!!!
