Default What breaks in the 10 bolt?

Just broke something in my rear when I hooked in 2nd with my m6. I was spinning in 1st and when I shifted in 2nd I heard a loud clank. When I start to move slow in first I can hear a clanking noise. Sounds like a broken tooth on the ring gear. Just curious on what was usually broken when other 10 bolts go down. Thanks, Jason

A little bit of everything in there has broke at some point in time or another. Usually either the gear teeth or the diff. Sometimes an axle.

I have seen many people put a ton of money into their 10 bolt rear, only to have the next weakest part break. Automatic fare better than 6 speed cars. Bob

alot of ring gears break in the 10 bolt .i believe deflection is part of the problem but even with a girdle it's still a bomb waiting to blow !

I broke a driver side axle. All of the parts are pretty weak.

yup, drivers side axle for me and the carrier about two weeks ago. I didn't break the ring and pinion and I think it's because I used a solid spacer instead of the crush sleeve.

I broke the spider gears after alot of hard launching. My advice, dont spend money on a 10, get a 12 and youll be fine

Pull off the rear cover and have a look?

I haven't had a chance to pull the cover off yet. I have broken many drivetrain parts in my other vehicles, but this is my first camaro. I just bought another rear to swap in temporarily until I can afford a ford 9". I'll post up what I find, should be next weekend. Thanks for the replies everybody.
