Default 3.42s to 4.10s

Hey guys, im thinkin about changin out the 3.42s to some 4.10s in my 2002 camaro ss 35th. My cars stock so im thinking about going with gears first and then go from there They're not that expensive so i think im just stuck on whether i should get them or not. Do they really make a difference? Will they shave some time of the 1/4 mile?

depends, do you have an A4 or a m6? 3:42 is a great all around gear, just depends on what your future plans are. Gearing should compliment your other mods, it shouldn't be your starting point.

i loved my 4:10's..... car feals like it has more torque.... you can go threw the gears super fast, there great.....

i think there fine as long as you keep the power under 500rwhp.
you may have problems with them at that point.

have fun.

yea, but wont your rpms jump way up when your going down the interstate? i kinda like only being at 1300,1400 at 60mph in 6th gear. would it jump up to make a huge difference? thanx.

I like it better with the lower gears cause it makes 6th a little more usefull. At 60 you'll turn 1600 with the 4.10's, and at 80 you'll be at 2100. So about 300 rpms higher.

I made the switch and it is great! I don't know what the 1/4 mile difference is yet, but the car should have came with these gears! I got a M6 with a 315/35/17 DR ( 25" tire) and I do 70mph at 2000 rpm in 6th! 22/14 mpg! If you find yourself shifting into 5th in the quarter just go with a taller (26, 27,28 depending on your HP) and you'll be fine!

Yea i figured it would make a difference. mine is a m6 and I dont think mine came with 4.10s. I have to change the gears now because its neccessary to run the cam i wanted to get. I was intrested in getting the T-rak cam 231/234 from Thunder racing. They said i would need at least 4.10s-4.30s. So if i do decide to get this cam would it be ok to leave the stock 10 bolt with the 4.10s in or would it be neccessary to change out the rear end?

I have a questions for the guys with the 4.10s. What brand did you get or if you dont like yours what would you have got? I am thinking about getting 4.10s also and I dont know who to go with. My car is mostly stock few bolt on's and I dont plan on going over 450 HP
