Default Gears for my D.D.

My car is my daily driver and I was wondering what gears I should go with? I have the mods in my sig but soon to have a head/cam combo . Then I will run spray to get into the 10's. I would like low 11's on motor and 10's on spray, would 3.73's be ok or should I go with 3.42's? Thanks for the help in a dvance.

I noticed on spray i wish i would have kept my stock gears. NA though 3.73 perfect, except if you take it on trips with wifey, that sucks, at 80 car is humming at 3000. My car is not my DD anymore.

HAha he does have a point about sacrificing things for speed. But I have a high tolerance for heat.

3.73s would be optimal for racing, but 3.42s are a little stronger.

I chose 3.42s myself for my daily driver.

what do you mean by "3.42s are a little stronger." you mean not as likely to break? is there any proof on this?

3:73 make it more likely to break the rear end because it makes the ring and pinion smaller

I'm not saying it's a rule that 3.42s are stronger, but it's logical.
I've seen a few cars repeatedly break 3.73s, then switch to 3.42s and have no problems.

thats also cause its alot more power going to the ground from the 3.73s. that has nothing to do with the strength of the gears.

4.10s in an auto here.
i wouldn't worry about what gears you go with, the spyder gears in the carrier break most the time anyways as long as it's set up right

i think its cause an A4 is just that, an A4, and when u have the m6, its gives u alittle more cruising room
