yea, you have to get a different carrier that will allow you to run anything higher than 3.23.

Actually You dont need to buy a whole carrier, all You have to do is buy a ring gear spacer. I dont know how much they cost but I guarantee its a lot cheaper by a few hundred bucks.

I had a 2 series carrier. You need what is called a thick gear. Do not put a spacer in you will have a lot of whine in your rear. Thick gears can tend to be a little noiser as well. Your other option is to change your posi. Thats what I did, I put an Auburn pro series in and then you can run regular thickness gears. The posi will run you about $400 new. Gears weather you go thick or thin are around $200, I recomend the Motive or Precision gears. Avoid Richmonds they are very loud. Also get a master installation kit for about $70 to replace all you bearings while your in there. Then I'd recomend a T/A cover. You can find those used on here all the time for about $100 or new for $150. Two bottles of Royal Purple fluid and limited slip additive and your good to go.

Check out Ebay for an auburn differential. I've seen new units there sell for $250. I was about to buy one until I found one advertised in a local ad paper for only $200.
