Default Something failed.......CARNAGE PICS(ds, ta, exhaust, floorboard)

Well, the launch went OK, but after that it was downhill. Something happened in 2nd, but it pulled. When I went into 4th something bad gave up. We knew it hurt a little more than the driveshaft, but after removing some parts the damage is more extensive than we thought! UGGGGGGH!

Nice holes in the floorboard...

Y-pipe damage also.......

Transmission pretty tore up....................

Rear U-Joint still in the rear end

Bellhousing too! WTF?

Yes, I do have a DS loop on the car

Also the torque arm is bent...

The driveshaft of course is fuxor, but it is already wall decoration in a friends garage. Tranny is going to Craig Staples in the AM, A clutch is being ordered tomorrow, couple Driveshafts are being looked at.

Worse part is we haven't checked out the 12 bolt yet............although I HOPE its OK.

Anyone have a line on a T56 tailhousing?

Thanks!

Chris

I am assuming stock DS... wtf dude. Get a good unit in there. Denny's or some other vendor recommended peice.

My 12 bolt was put in yesterday, I out a 3" steel unit, thats not going to break.

Get it all fixed, especially the floor.

Oh it will all be fixed/upgraded soon.....Going to the Charlotte Autofair mid April so on a little crunch.

Spec 2plus and T56 parts from www.t56rebuilds.com should be on the way. We will be fixing the floor.

It was a stock 3'' steel driveshaft from an LT1 car.

I also have a line on a Denny's and a Strange chromoly ds. We will see which one comes through for me..

What broke on the driveshaft? i know the tube didnt break must have been the u-joint then all hell broke loose. Did you upgrade the ujoint ? I have a steel driveshaft off a 2.73 ls1 car and upgraded the ujoint.

Yes u-joint was the part number from Napa for the 1350 yoke, It looks like it broke where the DS attaches to the U-joint.......................

That is unusual for that to happen. You dont hear to many people breaking steel driveshafts with the 1350 yoke!!

That is absolutely crazy. Sorry to see that happen but luckilly you had a DS loop. I would guess the yoke broke first (I assume factory) because if the Ujoint broke first I would think the Yoke straps would still be in place. Sorry to see that man good luck with it.

I think it is a stock steel driveshaft with the GM-to-1350 conversion U-joint. I ordered a Denny's Nitrous Ready shaft last week. I can wait 4 weeks for a lifetime warranty with free replacement .

Okay, I'm gonna take a stab at this. MY guess is that the torque arm bent one the 1-2 shift causing the u-joints to get in all kinda bind.........finally in 4th gear the u-joints had had enough and all hell broke loose. Am I right? Am I?

No seriously though, that is some pretty ugly stuff. I bet that car hooks nice huh.

I wish I knew what really happened :-( Yes it is a stock steel driveshaft. Imma go with the front u-joint broke first.

Also, we have a BMR TA here now.

I do have a couple used DS's I'm looking at.

I CANT wait 4 weeks as a big show is on the 14th of April..........

I had a Ujoint failure using the conversion joint as well.
I won't be using one ever again.

1350s all around.

Answered the DS loop question quick there...could have been much worse! Glad you're good enough to post the info here.

Sig don't say your HP & torque for the car. Hows it running there? Saw something about N2O. What would you guess w/& w/o spray? Love the wheels!
