Default 9" driveshaft ?

can i reuse the stock one even tho it seems about an inch shorter than it should be ?

i think you can, but you need an adapter u-joint

from what i've read....yes, but im still on the stock 10 bolt so no 1st hand experience

The driveshaft will not be fully seated in the transmission once it is installed into the yoke on the rearend. When fully seated in the transmission, it should be about an inch or so "short" of the yoke on the rear.

My replacement driveshaft that I ordered with my 9" was the exact same length as my stock aluminum one, U-joint to u-joint.

so you bought an aftermarket driveshaft for a 9" but it is the same lenght as stock ?

Yes, it should be. Both the 9" and 12-bolts by the big companies (Moser, Strange) are designed for use with the stock driveshaft. I believe the Dana S60's may be different, but I do not know this as a fact.

Dana S60s are a different length but my stock driveshaft with conversion u-joint on the rear worked out perfectly for my moser 9"
