I don't know about any direct fit shafts, but getting your old one re-sized is a piece of cake.
Pull open your phone book and look for a drive-line service in your area. You will need to take a measurement (ask them how they prefer you to measure-ie, from the tip of the trans to the yoke of the diff...etc) and take them the shaft. They will re-size and balance it.
I have had a lot of shafts re-sized, its no big deal at all, and not very expensive.
However...what is interesting is I put a 9" in my 69 LS1 Camaro. My driveshaft measurement was exactly the same with the 9" and the original 10 bolt. There are many different 9" carriers as well, so who knows what you ran into here.

are you not pushing the DS yoke into the tranny far enough? You may think it is too far in there, but then you unload the rear, it should fit perfect. you also may have to get a conversion u-joint if you changes your rear yolk size... other than that, it should fit perfectly. mine does

k for one. you put the rear under load or in my car back on the ground it pushes the rear up making a shorter distance from tranny to rear meaning the shaft goes into the tranny more. in my car like i explained. when the car is up in the air (unloaded rear) the driveshaft has about 1/8 inch of clearance for it to slip into the tranny. and i know any driveshaft while unloaded on these cars should have at least 3/4 inch clearance.
