Default Do all 9'' components work together?

Say I were to buy the housing/axle package from our resident Moser specialist at EPP, perhaps with a few more added options on it.

....but due to a tight budget and only having a cam only LS1 (possibly with some spray) any 9" carrier would be sufficient probably right?....

I was considering just getting any old 9" carrier/center section with any kind of posi-traction, probably a 28spline would be easiest to find. Do most 9" carriers/center sections fit into the moser 9" housing and with the supplied axles? If this is a stupid question just tell me, I have limited knowledge when it comes to these but I have resources to have the rearend set up for free by a professional. What about the driveshaft provisions? Would I just need that U-joint conversion.

Advice? Ideas? Criticism?

BTW, I will be going 4.10's with street DR's (BFG's or MT ET Streets), T56 car.

i have a ford nine inch out of late 70's truck. i put a rebuilt 3rd member in and tranferd the brackets of my 10blot to the ford nine inch. but i also have adjustable tq arm, lca, phb. im pretty sure u diffently would need all of that to get it to work.

I don't think you read my post right... your setup isn't quite what I was getting at.

yes i beleive they will all work together with each other..... but the problem is if you have a cam only nitrous car esp with a 6 speed you will be launching pretty hard.... 28 spline is kinda weak for your application..... i would at least do a 31 spline.... your best bet is honestly to save alittle more money and just go all moser parts... you wont regret it in the long run.....

The 28 and 31 spline carriers interchange, but they cant be used in the 3.25" moser/strange centersection for 35 and 40 spline axles. If it is 2.89" or 3.06" housing (the OD of the carrier bearing race) then the carrier will work fine. Keep in mind that OE style posi units are cheap, so just spend the money now and get 31 spline. If not you would end up with 28 spline axles that you are stuck with. Also, 31 spline is most trucks and a few HP cars, 28 spline is most cars.

You would have to match the axles bought in the package to the posi axle requirement. 28 spline axles=28 spline axles 31 spline axles= 31 spline posi..

You will have more luck finding a stock 31 spline posi unit if you are still going that way. Early 80's or late 70's 4wheel drive ford half ton truck best bet.

I agree, I would go with 31 spline axles. Bob

Dont mean to hijack, but I have a question regarding this as well. I just ordered a 9" housing, and going to be ordering a Detroit truetrac to go with a 3rd member I'm buying from a guy. The truetrac will fit in the 3rd member no problem, and the 31 spline axles will fit? The detroit is a new carrier in itself right? So all I have to have for my install is the housing(check), 3rd member(check), truetrac, 4.11 gears, and a master install?
