Default "BRAKE" light after 9" install

yeah, i know its a brake question but i figured i'd have a better chance of finding someone who had similar issues over here in the gears section. after installing a moser 9" i can't get my parking brake light to go off...it pops on when i start moving in either direction.

i doubt its the sensor under the handle, because it works fine in park before i move(light goes on when i pull the handle up, off when i put it down)

the fluid level is fine, and yesterday i adjusted the cylinders behind the rotors, and still the freaking light pops on.

i talked to scott at dls and he suggested making sure the backing plates are tight, that sometimes they loosen up and shift and that pulls the brake lines a bit.....i'm gonna go look at that now, but i'm almost positive they are tight.....i'm guessing it has something to do with tension on the lines, but i'm hoping someone that has had similar problems could chime in.

thanks
josh

was your car a traction control car? If not, once it goes ABS INOP, the brake light illuminates as well.

our 98 car did the exact same thing

I know this is an old thread, but my car is doing the same thing after a 9". Is there a way to keep the e-brake light from coming back on as soon as the car moves?

Remove the bulb. That's what I plan to do to get rid of my ABS inop light.

That's what I ended up doing too.

We're talking about the red "BRAKE" light, not the "ABS Inop" light right? I've got both on after the 9" swap. I know the abs inop bulb has to go to get rid of it, is it the same case with the BRAKE light?

3 channel rears (cars with no traction control) do not get to keep the ABS with a 9" install....although someone correct me if i'm wrong that there is now an option available to make that happen.

These days you can get a 9" that retains ABS for 3 channel.

The option to retain ABS with a 9" on a 3 channel car wasn't available when my rear was purchased, that option has just become available in the last month or two.
