Driveshafts
So I'm thinking about getting the Moser 9 inch from Bob at Exotic Performance Plus, but I am clueless about driveshafts.
I have searched and searched and searched...and I can't find anything conclusive.
I know Bob sells the PST aluminum, but others say to not get aluminum.
I also read about Denny's Nitrous Ready Steel, various chromoly shafts and even some Carbon Fiber shafts.
Basically, I plan to have heads/cam setup as close as possible to 500 rwhp and I don't want issues with vibration, breakage, etc.
I also read about different diameter shafts and don't know what to go with, and I can't find prices hardly anywhere which makes things even more difficult.
Can anyone help me out? Link me to helpful threads? I've searched but can't find what I'm looking for.
Thanks!

The PST driveshaft is rated at 1200 hp, and comes with a lifetime guarantee. The supplied U Joints come with a 10 year warranty. I have not heard of anyone breaking one of these driveshafts. We use them on all our high horsepowered installs. Bob

I personally would tell you to goto Drive Line Solutions and get one of his Steel 3inch shafts.
7500rpm critical speed, 1200hp capable 1330 Spicer joints and forged yokes and smooth as silk
Thats just My Opinion

I broke a 1330 yoke on the starting line of a track, I wouldn't use anything less than a 1350.
Street - Strip Aluminum Driveshafts. 6061-T6 Dom tubing gives the most concentric Aluminum Driveshaft available. High strength aluminum tube yokes are Mig welded with less than 10 thousands total run out. The aluminum shaft is balance to less than 1/4 oz to assure vibration free operation.
Cryo treated performance dynamic solid 1350 U-Joints *
Cryo treated transmssion slip yoke
Heavy duty aluminum tube yoke
3 1/2" x 125 wall 6061-T6 DOM tubing
Track tested at over 1200 HP
Electronically balanced for high RPM usage
Made to exact length of stock Camaro and Firebird driveshaft length
Call us for longer or shorter lengths
None of the wimpy 1310 or 1330 yokes here!
Lifetime warranty!
* 1350 Spicer Series: Manufactured with OEM tolerances and treated with our Cryogenic Process to yeild the strongest U-Joint available. For drag racing applications a solid non-lube design U-Joint is recommended (included) because of the tremendous initial shock load, or short duration of high torque the joint must be able to withstand.
Note: This driveshaft is designed to replace the factory driveshaft when used with an aftermarket rear-end that has a 1350 yoke.
To use this driveshaft with the factory 10 bolt rear, the U Joint will have to be replaced with a conversion U Joint, Napa pn# 240-0447.
I weighed a stock 3.0" aluminum driveshaft and then weighed one of these PST driveshafts. This stout PST driveshaft is only 2.5 pounds heavier. Bob

And what are you supposed to do, change the U Joint when you go to the track every time?

Yes, the driveshaft will be replaced if it ever breaks. The U Joints will be replaced for the next ten years if they ever break.
I don't follow you on the U Joint needing replaced every time you go to the track. This driveshaft is a bolt in when used with a Moser rear, it comes with the correct U Joints to bolt it right up to the Moser 1350 yoke. Bob

The DLS 3" Chromoly comes with a 1350. The 3" Aluminum replacement comes with the 1350 or stock-style 1330 and the Aluminum 3.5" comes with the 1350.
Personally, if I wanted the weight savings and strength, I'd look at the PST driveshaft as it is a little cheaper than the DLS 3.5" Aluminum. But, I'd rather have the strength of Chromoly, so I'd go with the 3" Chromoly one from DLS.

Just listen to Bob! The PST driveshaft is a beast. I had one before I broke my 12 bolt, and it is rated at a higher abuse rate than my chromoly steel driveshaft is. It's lighter and will not vibrate in your car. The best driveshaft I have ever owned! I just wish they made them in custom sizes, so I could put one back in my car with my Dana60! By the way the 1350 is a must for strenght!
