Richmond Gears
I've got a set of Richmond 3.73's in my 93 TA. They whine like crazy. I've heard that Richmonds do that, but I was wondering if anyone knows how to quiet them down. Any help at all would be appreciated.

you can't your stuck with the noise. unless you buy new gears because they have allready worn in a pattern. I would go with new Motive Performance. Mine have been quiet in my 10 bolt and now my 9".

Thanks for the info. That sux. I guess I'll have to add gears to the list of new stuff to buy when I get back from Iraq.

Unless you have some real hard drag launches on them that started the noise, but they should have been quiet initially.

AAM gears making noise? Something is wrong. Common mistake is a lot of shops set the backlash too wide. It is not like a typical aftermarket 5 cut gear it is a 2 cut gear and the backlash should be set from .003" to .006". Any wider and you will have issues with noise and gear failure.
BTW Richmond is a good strong gear but definately noisey most of the time.
