Default 373 versus 410......550 plus rwhp

i've got 373's now, just wondering if i should switch to 410s? anyone done this and happy about it.

6th gear seems to still be useless unless you're doing 70. is it because i'm on 19's?

i know 1st gear is a wash unless you're on drag radials, and i've read a ton of other threads on this, but has anyone went from 373's to 410's and loving it. or am i at a horsepower level that i should just stay with the 373's.

it's a m6. is there that much difference?

just wondering, confused, curious,
rob

if you switch to 4:10s 2nd will probably be just as useless as 1st. i would stick with the 3:73s. are you on a stock rear or do you have a good one in there ?

12 bolt went in with the 373's.

drove one with 410's today. 1st/2nd/3rd felt closer, 4th felt about the same.

i don't know. i'll probably keep the 373's, just curious if anyone had went from 373's to 410's or vice/versa.

it's just like the other thread, '373's or 410's you decide', it's 2 to 1 to get the 410's.

is there a horsepower "range" where 373's are better than the 410's?

I went from 4.10's on a 26'' tire to a 28'' tire which made the ratio really close to a 3.73. I really liked the 4.10 with the 26'' tire a lot better and I also have a m6. I had 315/35/17 drag radials with the 4.10 so traction was still realy good. I would definately go with the 4.10, especially if you a running a taller than stock tire with those 19'' rims. If i knew i was gonna be using 28'' tires all the time then i would have went with an even steeper gear than 4.10

for the horsepower rnage i would say you really only need the 3.73's if you are going with a big shot of nitrous cuz it will rev to fast or if you plan on trapping more than 135mph

Good post because I hope to be close to that power. I will likely just be on a 315/35 DR or ET Street all the time because it isn't my DD.

yah i would really only consider a 4.10 4.22 or 4.30 gear. I kinda wish i would have went with the 4.30's or 4.22;s because i will likely not be putting a stock size tire back on. I put my 17x11 rims on with the 3'' studs i had to install for the 15x10 prostars and they just stick out and look too silly.

What rear do you suggest for "Canyon Carving" type of driving? I have the stock 3.42's in my LS1 SS M6 now. Should i keep those? I want a lil more off the line acceleration, but i don't want my *** end to constantly kick out from behind me on corners? Would 3.73's be ok?

for the 7.5" guys, i used to search ebay for posi's and gear when i was bored, and one time i ran across a set of 3.90's for 7.5 and being weary of ebay sellers but still excited and hopeful i emailed the company (i THINK it was MOTIVE GEAR) and the guy replied that they just started to make them and earlier that month the part number was assigned to the gear.
i have yet to see a catalog with them in it but you can email and see if they still have them. if its not motive gear i would email the others. i will also see if i still have the email saved.

I've had 3.42, 3.73, 4.10 and 4.56 in my M6 Camaro.

I liked 4.10's the best.

The difference between 3.73 and 4.10 won't be huge.

The difference between a 4.10 and 4.30 would hardly be noticeable.

Now going to a 4.56 and running it on a short tire like a set of 18's with 40 series tires, you'll be out of gear quick.

For cars with some mods and spray I like 4.10's and 28" tires.

My next gear set will be 5.29's

first off, list your mods..

what do you have to be making that power .. are you NA or FI.. is that power with nitrous? what is your application or what do you use your car primarily for? a DD or weekend warrior or what? what kind of trans, etc..

I have 3.73's M6 now and just ordered some 4.10's

I did this for two reasons. I want to help it out of the hole it seems to be straining a bit much with the 3.73's and I still have plenty of fourth left when i hit the traps. 26" tire

I hope its not going to wreck the amazing street manners the car has now. If it does I'm going to drop the 3.73's back in but I thought i would post here for now and then I too will update afterwards.

I currently have 4.11's and have a new set of 3.73's waiting to go in. Although it's 99% a street car, when I went to the track I ran out of 3rd gear in the 1/8th, with 275/40-17's and the 4.11's. I imagine the same thing would happen in the 1/4 with the 4.11's, 3.73's should help the situation.

I tried to shift somewhere just before 6500, but was running street radials and had ZERO traction. My times were terrible, somewhere in the 8's, trapped at 90mph bouncing off the limiter. I think with drag radials and 3.73's, I'd trap around 100mph.

just a quick update. just got the car back. 1st gear is definately a shorter gear than the 373's. on the other side though, 5th and 6th and fairly close to perfect now.

seems to me best set up would be 373 gears for 1st and 2nd......410's for 3rd and 4th......430's for 5th and 6th.

remember though i'm on a 19inch rear also. much better overall with the 410's over the 373's.
