Quoted $325 for labor to install 4.10s
So after reading on here quite a bit I thought that if I had the gears and the master install kit that it should only cost about $200 for a shop to install them. But the shop quoted me $325 for labor if i supplied my own parts.... That doesnt seem right does it? Is there anyone in the bay area, CA that knows of anything better????
Thanks!

alot of shops will up labor charges to install customer supplied parts. the shop relies on markup percentages from the parts and labor they sell to cover overhead costs and keep the doors open. just the way it works. you usually have a easier time getting things covered by warranties if there is an issue with the parts purchased through the installer.

If the shop comes highly recommended it's probably worth that price. But I'd shop around. You should be able to get it done closer to $200, but maybe everything is more expensive in CA. Sponsor and great local shop here, Tick Performance, charges $200 per their pricing webpage.

I know its just that I didnt want to dump much money into the 10 bolt. I thought since I got the gears and install kit for like $180 I could either put them in myself or have someone do it and be done for around $330 total, not just over $500....

30th T/A check your mail about swapping rears, I live near you. And $325 is high, however, if they install them correctly and they last, then it's worth it. In my LT1, I went cheap and they weren't set right, ended up having to replace them a year later.
