Default do I need sway bar with 9" rearend?

I just ordered a 9" with 4.11 gears, and was told most people either fab thier own swaybar brakets or dont use them. He said that the rearend is so stout that it doesnt need a swaybar.

Is this true?

Who in the **** told you that?????????????

That is horrible advice. Yes you still need a sway bar. Go to the parts store and buy 2 3" muffler clamps and use them.

Damn some people. Yes you still need a sway bar. And a larger than stock one at that. A 1" bar if you drag race and want the car to launch straight and level.

Uh, no. You need a sway bar. Call one of the suspension sponsors and get a kit.

Hold on now! Guys you can run it around a little bit as long as you dont plan on throwing it into corners hard. You dont have to rush the job and run out immediately and fab this. There is nothing wrong with running it around without the swaybar. Just install it at your convience as soon as you can. Don't be going to the dragstrip without it. I have been running mine without one for 2 weeks and plan on installing mine when i get back this comming weekend.

I would install the sway bar while you do the rear-end. The sway bar is not there to strengthen the rear, it is there to keep the body tied to the rear. Bob
