Default MidWest 9" vs 10 bolt

Well got my MidWest fabbed 9 inch rear last week and have had a few people asking me about weight differences vs the stock 10 bolt. They thought it was going to be a lot heavier but with the fabbed part Eric builds and the aluminum center its pretty damn close.

Here are some pics comparing each piece...I think overall I actually would have saved weight !! But with adding the Strange chromemoly driveshaft everything is just a few pounds more and a whole lot more bullet proof

The challenger, weighing in at 168 pounds

The incumbent, looking a little worse for wear LOL

Torque Arm - stock

The Challenger in chromemoly looking mighty trim yet powerful:

Stock **** ugly tranny mount:

Midwest adjustable tranny mount:

Lower control arms (BMR boxed):

Midwest adjustable LCA's in chromemoly:

Sold the stock alum driveshaft before I could weigh it, that was only piece I missed getting a reading on.

Hope this comparison helps some of you guys sitting on the fence and thinking a 9" will be too heavy...doesn't have to be! I'm glad I went this way vs. the S60 which would have weighed a whole lot more.

Yea.. I weighed mine and it was damn near the same weight as well and I had the extra support. The big kicker was the TQ arm was a hell of alot lighter then the Spohn one. But, the DS was heavier then the stocker though.

No complaints with my Midwest Fab 9. I've had many compliments about it...I would recommend it to anyway considering a new rearend as well as the other components Eric offers.

Can't tell you, the aluminum center section was already mounted up to the rest of the axle when I got it. I'm guessing 35 -40 pounds ?

It comes complete for about $2600 including delivery, what sold me is it includes a custom chrome moly torque arm in that price ! Which is something I always wanted...you can build it up with quite a few other options etc to mid 3's if you want...mine was about 3600 including a new chrome moly driveshaft and adj LCA's
