It is all relative because the transmissions are geared differently. Look at the rpm in each gear at a given speed between a 3.42 rear M6 2002 camaro with 25.5" tires and the same for a 3.45 rear 2010 M6 camaro with 28.5" tires and you will see they are nearly identical. So, in other words, a 3.73 in a 2010 will be a nearly identical change that a 3.73 would be in a 4th gen. The A6 is a bit of a different story, as you can't really compare it directly to a A4 4th gen. Besides, the A6 in the 2010 is geared pretty aggressively already, even with a 3.27 rear.

TR6060 six-speed manual (SS)
Gear ratios (:1):
First: 3.01
Second: 2.07
Third: 1.43
Fourth: 1.00
Fifth: 0.84
Sixth: 0.57
Reverse: 3.28
Final drive ratio: 3.45
Then the gearing is not much deeper than a 4th gen, so I'm not sure I'd do 3.73's vs. stock 3.45's.

that's a little over the top there ss1129...but I do agree with the "new camaro tax" and that there are WAY too many noobs on camaro5 dropping 7-8K on mods right out the gate.
