Bad part about that article is they didn't test the Roto-Fab or Vararam. They are 2 most popular 5th gen intakes.

http://www.vararam.com/camaro-ramair-unit.html

Check out the Vararam unit. It looks pretty promising, however, I called them yesterday and they aren't accepting orders until the 15th of this month. The price is $459 + $20 shipping to the lower 48.

If the gains are legit, then it would be worth the money. The rep I spoke with told me they had a pre order of 250 units that they are in the process of filling now. I would like to wait to see what the real gains are rather than getting my hopes up on the manufacturers claims.

We've had the Roto-Fab, the Air-Raid, and the AFE Stage 2 on our car.

Of all of them, I've personally felt the AFE stood above the rest on the performance side with my supporting mods. And I like the way it looks.

CAI's on these cars are like apples and oranges...everyone is going to fight the ones that they personally put on their car as being "the best" till the death.

I'm just throwing you my opinion on the 3 I've had.

Let me know if you need one....

Vararam has yet to show real world proof that its a superior intake, infact plenty of people are ditching them due to poor drivability.

Plus the ******* wait list is stupid. They make probably 1 of them every three days and its a piece of molded plastic.

You can get the same results for cheaper IMO.

Get the one that drops the IATs the most. That will be the one to have.

I just got an R2C to test. We'll be running dyno and track numbers against a stock box and Roto-Fab. We'll see if the flow numbers equal power. I'm excited.

The TVS2300 is the best "air intake" you can get for these engines, period...

I have a Rotofab on mine and it was only $359 shipped and made 18 rwhp and was easy to install and a perfect fit.

18 rwhp per the dyno or per Rotofab? 18 rwhp makes me very skeptical for a CAI alone.

yeah, because everyone knows that if it's loud, it makes more power...

This is good information. I was unaware of any of that except for the wait list part. We were def. going to wait for real results before dropping $500 on a disappointment.

Thanks for the info.

We have seen that much rwhp out of the Halltech and the Airaid system on the dyno. Most of the intake systems we have tried in house here have been really close as far as rwhp goes.

Are folks seeing a commensurate increase in MPH at the drag strip? Does a CAI require a tune or does the pcm compensate?
