Probably very soon. I would wager. The car would get probably a full second quicker!

Are you buying the new "body in white" Camaro shell from GM?

If not, why the hell would you want to destroy a new car?
Who the hell would pay $30-$40k for a great touring car with IRS, ABS, and a ton of features to turn it into a drag car when there are much better options out there?

If you really want a drag car, start with a F-body, a 5.0 mustang, or buy the new Cobra Jet drag car from Ford.

Why would you buy the new Camaro and intend to drag race it?

I wish they would of named it something else....

Last time I checked they were not assigning VIN#'s to them so would be track only, same thing the Factory "white" challanger body. I would figure VA Speed would do it 1st.

why would you put a maggie on a brand new car ? or nitrous ? or anything for that matter that voids the warranty? not everybody want's a 4,000 lb tank with irs to just cruise around in. i don't have one or even plan on getting one, i was just wondering if that has been looked into yet.

Are you kidding me?

There is a BIG difference between adding a blower to a daily driver and trying to turn a touring car (fat pig) into a drag car.
Who said ANYTHING about a warranty.

You probably heard that from some loser who wants to make himself feel better about buying his solid axel (piece of ****) Mustang.

It's 2009. Solid rear axels have NO place on new cars....or in the century.

Besides, if you are going to build a drag car, there is NO reason to buy new.
Especially if you are going to upgrade everything.

I'm pretty sure the IRS on the 5th gen is stronger than the 10 bolt on the 4th gen.

There is nothing wrong with a solid axle conversion, and they most definitely have their place, especially in a drag car which some Camaros wil certainly turn into.

Just because its not something you'd personally wouldn't do doesn't mean its wrong or stupid to do so....

I wonder if Madman's 9" Conversion he did on the CTS-V might come in handy...

i completely understand your point and i'm not arguing with you. BUTTTT...... if i got a new camaro i wouldn't use it for touring at all,it would just be a weekend warrior with the occasional trip to the strip.different strokes for different folks.heck maybe i'm just old school and need to get with the program

Agreed.
But, why wouldn't you just start with a solid axle car from the factory?

Like I said, ther is the "body in white" camaro if you REALLY want to build a race car using the 2010 Camaro.
But, unless you have no sense of value, or the project is a write off, why wouldn't you just start with a solid axel car as the platform ?????

"in the white" is a general term that applied to metal that isn't painted, blued, or protected in any way.

In the case of cars it usually means you are buying a non street legal roller car or car with a power train that isn't meant for the typical end user. it would not be a "motor vehicle" and not registrable for transit on the great north American highway system.

probably no abs, airbags, safety system, ect. probably no interior panels carpet. not painted probably no trim. im not sure if they even have a legal lighting system.

only a race car would be ordered like this.
