Which LS based car would you buy?
Let me preface by saying I drive a Mustang
Anyway... I am entertaining getting something else and looking at the budget, about $25K, there seems to be a lot of choices out there.. and some not GM, but I know on this board those would not be chosen, lol...
What I am looking for?
Not having a problem racing WRX sti or EVo's would be niace.
Four seats (have kids)
Prefer stick shift
All these I have thought about are in the 400 hp range... so not much difference, I think in the speed dept.. i am not looking to be the "fastest", I've outgrown that years ago, just something fast...
Thoughts? Heck, i am also going to include the other contenders in my list, in no particular order...
Let's see, i think I got them in there...the three GM's I was thinking about that are LS based.
I think when it comes to the GM choices it would be just a styling issue, as most would be hp comparable? Ease of mod'ing?

- Cadillac CTS V
- Ford Cobra, 04
- Pontiac GTO (I am not particularly fond of d shape)
- Pontiac G8
- Jeep SRT 8
- WRX sti (I thought of just jumping ship, and be done with it, but prefer V8 american muscle at this stage).

4 door- CTS-V.
2 door- Z06 Vette (i've seen a few in that price range).
That's assuming you want to spend the whole $25k on the vehicle itself. I'm sure you could come up with a regular LSx powered Vette in the ~'00 range and have money left to tinker on it.
What do you really want? A sport sedan, coupe, targa, etc.? I wanted a Camaro since I was a kid, so the one I just picked up really is my "what would you buy?" car.

Yea, you forgot TBSS, though its not a manual.... Just as fast as all the others mentioned and the same great potential. Also has more space for kids **** that always comes with along with them. If you need to, it can tow too!

I owned a 2004 STi. It was ok... but I'd really advise against the expensive to repair, expensive to service, and weak topended subaru in this equation...
Go with the g8 gxp. I raced a G8 GT that ran a 13.4 with just an HP tune... very fast 4 door and roomy to boot!
I can only imagine that the GXP would run like a raped ape

My mustang is 2 door now and it's fine... I only use the car with my kids, so one of them goes in the front / one in the back and they are fine...

I jotted down all the specs on these cars last night at home, but don't have it with me...
The G8 - L76. 6.0, & 361 hp..
G8 GXP - LS3, 6.2, & 415 hp, correct? It's over the budget, these are in the mid 30''s or $40K on autotrader...
CTS V - either L76 6.0 361 hp or LS3 6.2 and 415 hp!..
Looks like the G8 and the cadillac have the same engine and hp, just sounds like an old person's car... "a cadillac"? lol.. Is it going to fall apart like the old cadillac cimarions or the catera? LOL...
That sucks... the srt 8 chargers are under $30K with the 400 and change hp... arggh

If you have to have four seats then 03/04 Cobra, if not then C5Z06. I have always considered an Evo or a WRX, but they are in a different league than the rest of your list.

TBSS or G8GT. if you got 40 grand, then a G8GXP, but you said 25. for the money, cant beat those 2 cars. a TBSS isnt even that heavy & it can be had in AWD if you need something for winter too. G8 is more of a sportscar and will be quicker, but both are great choices. in the non lsx world, M3s can be had in that range.
