Default Keep what I have, or buy a 2010 Camaro SS

Hey guys,

I'm giving heavy thought to buying a 2010 Camaro SS, I've got a line on a silver ice metallic 2SS/RS M6 with headers, a cat back, cold air induction and a tune for a FANTASTIC price.

Question is...am I better off keeping what I have, or jumping onto the 2010 SS wagon..I welcome all input!

99 Z28, T-tops, cloth interior 50K miles...mods are:
Comp Cams 232/238 .595/.605 112+2 LSA
Hooker ceramic coated longtubes & off road y
Magnaflow Cat Back Exhaust
SLP lid & ported & polished throttle body
LS6 Intake
25% UD pulley
Vigilante 2800 stall
3:73 Motive gears
BMR 1.25" springs
KYB AGX shocks
Tuned by Straightline Performance in New Lenox, IL....381 RWHP 380 RWT

Here's the 2010 SS with the mods on the car it's making 410rwhp and 411 rwtq :

I think you will be happy with whatever you do. Thats a very clean Camaro you have, and I am sure you love it. But, if you are ready for something new, why not get the new Camaro. I am sure it isn't as quick as your current Camaro, but it can be with a few mods.

I personally would skip the new Camaro, and buy a Corvette.

well to me it depends on what you consider a "FASTASTIC" price. How much for the 2010 if you dont mind me askin? I feel if the deal is good enough and cheap enough then definitely get the 10 ss! Your car is very nice but the build quality and overall of the new Camaro's compared to 4th gens are a night and day difference. Besides it doesnt hurt to have somthing new with newer technology and a much better engine (ls3). Those ls3's are MONSTERS when modified, even slightly just incase you did want to add more mods! That's why to me it all boils down to how much the 10 ss is. If its reasonable (by your standards since i dont know how much it is) i say get the 10ss if its kind of high keep yours.

I'd keep the '99 you already have. It's a better looking car, IMO. The 5th gen is nice, but I like the looks of clean 4th gens better.

If you really want to sell your car though, I agree with Juicy J, move on to a C6.

Your 99 is a beauty.

But the '10 is a WAY better car. I'd go for it.

o ok. That is a good price with the mods included!! I guess its just now the case where would you prefer to have a car note or not (assuming your car is payed off) and higher insurance. If car note and insurance dont bother you then i definitely say get the 10ss. You can then sell your car and im sure you would get a nice amount for it and put that towards the 10ss which would make it that much cheaper than it already is!

SO you would have a 10ss with much better build quality/overall quality, much better technology, (LS3), ride comfort, already modded somewhat etc. for only 32,500 and then make it much cheaper by putting the money of your current ss towards the 10ss. so all in all your could get a 10ss possibly for a total of low 2x,xxx. Sounds like a steal in my opinion to go this route for a 2010 m6 slightly modded with what im sure has very low miles on it

Better in what regard? Is not going to be faster (as they both sit), it doesn't look any better (opinion), it's certainly not going to hold its value any better, and although it might be newer (thus less chance to break and seems to be better quality right now) you're paying a lot more to get it. I guess the only advantage is the fact it's more stock, thus probably more reliable. But unless they are both DD's this probably isn't much of an issue.

To the OP, I see you're local to me. How much would you want for your car if you sold it?

If you do decide you need a change and price is no object, here is what I would...

From what I've gathered....it looks like 12K seems to be the right price for the car.

This is going to sound crazy...but this is the toughest choice I've had to make yet regarding any of my car choices.

The 99 is in FANTASTIC shape....car should go 11.7 - 11.8 as it sits now, which I think is pretty damn respectable.

The 10' has some good mods already....I don't think anywhere near enough mods to push it anywhere near high 11s.

The 99 is bought and paid for..which means it's easier to dump cash into it as I see fit. The 10' is going to involve payments for multiple years, which may make any further modding tough until it's paid for.

Neither car will be a DD....both will be "toys"

That Hugger Z28 is as clean as it gets, tastefully modded as well, I say Keep it man.

I have in fact driven only the automatic version...haven't wheeled the six speed yet.

The one thing I did notice right away is you can't put your arm on the sill or the armrest.
