any way to check if a ls1 is stolen?
I found a pretty good deal on a motorset on craigslist, and I really want to pick it up. But I do know that stolen stuff ends up on there from time to time. The motor doesnt have any paper work as the seller says he picked it up to swap into his car years ago, but never had enough money to finish it.
is there anyway to tell from the engine code what the car vin was? I cant run a carfax or anything without a vin.
Ideas and recommendations welcome

I got a complete ls6 intake w tb and fuel rails and brand new gaskets for 150.. Granted the fuel lines had been cut off not popped off an the hoses were all still on the intake.. I wouldn't worry about it.. I was worried at first too but oh well like everyone else has said it's too late now! Take advantage!

I don't think you would really be able to find out unless someone had posted in your area that they had their car or engine stolen. It is a crappy situation if it was, but you don't have anyway of knowing, so I would not worry about it.

There is no way to tell... I worried a while back about doing a motor swap in my ss because it was a low miles car and that would make it a non matching numbers car... I did a little research on it and was informed that there are no numbers on the block itself to match. There are casting numbers on your heads and such but no serial numbers.
