fake Z06 converibles : how do you feel?
so after i read the SS/WS6 clone thread the other day and then today saw a guy with a dark blue, not electron blue 'vette convertible. (c-5) With the rear brake vents, and an automatic ( yeah i looked in, no tint and we parked close to eachother) it kinda irked me i know its his 'vette and he can do what he wants but this bugs the hell outa me for some reason... how does everyone else feel about this?

I don't see a difference between this thread or the other. People will feel the same way about it. The model doesn't matter. The topic would have the same results whether it be a Mustang or Charger or even an import.

I don't see what the problem is?
If someone wants to put parts from a different trim level on their car, so be it. This is no different than any other type of modification (unless, once again, he's trying to sell the car as something that it's not).
Since Z06s were all FRC/M6 cars, it makes sense that someone might like some of the Z06 items, but prefer to have an A4/'vert car. So the only option would be to add said pieces as custom.
I think using OE-style pieces from a different trim level, for the purposes of exterior customization, looks a lot better than most aftermarket appearance junk.

Changes parts for aesthetic modifications is fine as long as you don't put on badges or try to pass it off as something it's not. I never understood why someone would be ashamed of having a Z28 or a base vette and feel like they need to mendaciously rebadge it or even try to sell it dishonestly.

Since when is it wrong to mod a car with parts from a different trim level of the same car? Frankly I don't understand any of this. Must be something in the water lately.

I wonder if the OP drives a "real" Z06 so feels that his car is better then all other C5's on the road.
But in all honestly some of you guys need to chill out, part of what makes this hobby fun is everyone making changes to their car that they like. Imagine how much this hobby would suck if EVERYONE drove the exact same car with the exact same parts so that nobody gets butt hurt about what other people do to their cars
