Default 800 miles/1 year since last oil change, should I change it?

Do i change the oil again this year? I've only put about 800 miles on the car in the past 11 months or so. Im running 5w30 Mobil 1 with a K&N oil filter.

I'm going to say no, as long as when you drive it, its a long enough drive to get the car up to full temperature and burn off any condensation in the engine.

I agree.

I've been doing two-year oil (synthetic) change intervals on my '98 for the last 4 years now, since it only gets driven about ~300 miles per year at this point. I am fine with this because:

A) The engine is only started during warm weather months, and when the car is going to be driven for long enough to get the oil fully warmed up. No short trips, no idle-only starts.

B) The car is stored in a garage, so temp and humidity fluctuations are not as rapid as they would be with an outdoor car.

I did used to change the oil once every year when I was driving it up to 1500 miles per year though, but even then I probably could have gone two years on the synthetic oil and a good filter.

I'm in the same boat. Since last July I have put 300 miles on my car. I probably won't change it until at least this fall. That is even if I drive it that much this summer.

If garage-kept I wouldn't worry about it with synthetic oil.
I personally use 1 year intervals when low mileage though. As stated, it is cheap and you don't have to think about it.

I vote change it. Doesn't oil break down over time anyway????

I dont. I havent changed the oil in either of my running f-bodys in over a year now. Both have almost clear synthetic oil and just sit in the garage anyway.

The only thing to worry about is condensation, if you drive it every few months you should be good. Ive resorted to changing mine when it gets dark colored.

Synthetic oil lasts a lot longer than you might think, especially under ideal conditions.

I'd change it. I do less than 2k but the once a year mark is reasonable.

I think it's funny the more we mod our cars the less we drive them, mine because it was broke and now I won't start it unless it's in the 50-60's and a nice day to take a drive. But I would change it I have with less miles but I need a catch can and i'll let it go up a little more I just hate having black oil........

I can go two years/600-800 miles and the oil still comes out with a goldenish-brown color. It's probably a waste to dump it even at that point.

One year is the longest I let mine go, regardless of mileage.

To sum this thread up, you are probably okay without changing it but doing so also would not be a bad idea.
