Default Brake Calipers Factory Finish

Guys,

Does anyone know if our factory calipers are painted silver, or are they bare aluminum? All I wanna do is restore them to their factory glory- no fancy powdercoating/painting. Just OEM.

They were not silver painted originally. Not sure if they had any kind of light coating that was protecting the aluminum though.

I don't believe they do have any coating on them.

No coating, and a dremel with wire wheel attachments will also do a good job.

I feel as if the dremel with a wire brush will produce a different finish all together- perhaps something not as abrasive- any suggestions fellas?? I will look into the Acid as I work in a dealership!

Acid wash for sure. Comes in a 5 gallon plastic container. It ruins spray bottle though. But works great on rims for cleaning bad break dust off

Have you tried a small stiff plastic bristle brush and simple green, or brake parts cleaner...?

A wire wheel would definitely not be the answer if you want an assembly line finish.

The acid wash would probably be a better bet.

Yeah, as long the bristles are stiff so you have better scrubbing power.
