Default Buying a T/A

Hey guys, I'm a new guy here at ls1tech and well im in the hunt for an fbody but i got some questions for yall...

I got 4 options on Fbodies (all of them are trans am)

A Dark blue 1996 T/A WS6 6 Speed, 87k Miles, all electric, t-tops verything looks good and works but no A/C for $5,800 obo.
A Red 1993 T/A with a 6 speed, 112k miles, all electric with a/c and everything is in good condition for $5350
Also a white 1998 T/A ws6 convertible all electric, auto and everything looks great and works great has 108k miles for $8500
And last but not least a Yellow with black 2002 t/a ws6 all electric, auto, has t-tops, everything works the bad things about it is that it has 147k miles and the drivers seat leather is a bit torn up and well theyre asking $4500 obo.

My question is of course LT1 vs LS1 pros and cons
Also what is considered a high milage LS1/LT1?

Im in between the '96 and 02... and i think the 02 is the collectors edition ws6.

Please i need some help!!!
Thanks!

ill be predictable and say break it down to the 2 Ls1 options and go from there.

a well taken care of ls1 will run strong for over 100k.

Off hand, I say keep looking. Are you limited to Mexican cars or are you definitely coming north of the border??
You need to buy the best maintained, non-abused example possible. We have no idea how any of the cars you listed above have been used or maintained, and by who. I sure wouldn't recommend a 100,000+ miles LS1 car driven by a 16 year old (learning to drive) to anyone. On the other hand I would be very impressed with any LT1 F-body owned by a middle aged guy that used his T/A for cruising and maintained it regularly with documentation. While lower mileage cars will be desirable 9 times out of 10 you still have to make sure they weren't beaten. I've personally seen a Porsche 911 with 3,000 miles on it with a blown engine. You never know. Each car must be considered with every detail possible. The descriptions given in your list are completely lacking these details. Color is not a detail, just a choice to be made by you. Vague descriptions of 'good' mean nothing. What is 'good' to you may be actually 'fair' or vice versa to others. We don't even know if they are 'bad title' cars. How can anyone answer honestly?? I owned a '96 LT1 Formula for 9 years. It was an amazing car with zero issues. I've owned my LS1 T/A since day one, also with minimal issues. Sweet rides are out there in both configurations. Now, for those details....

Good advice from NC01TA, as usual.

I would also add the following question: What is your budget? I would personally be looking for something with lower miles AND in excellent/well maintained condition, but that would of course be more expensive. If you can afford that, then I feel it's absolutely the best move.

I don't know how many of these cars there are to choose from in your region and country in general, so perhaps selection is limited.

Thanks for the kind words RPM WS6.
I am guilty of forgetting to ask about a budget. I saw the $8,500 figure on one of the cars and immediately thought that could be a price point. A decent lower mileage F-body could be within reach, like one with a $10,000 asking price that might be had for that $8,500.
Corrosive_23, do you have that much in your budget?

remember anything that old will most likely need some type of repairs.

Hey guys thanks for the fast answers...
Well i really don't have much info on the car since i bearly started looking, and yes im limited to the Mexican cars right now, I was going to go to the states in this upcoming week but some things showed up and can't leave the country.
So i decided to look for an fbody here for the meanwhile, and if i find something i dont have to go... but so far those are my options....
And by budget is anything under $125,000 pesos which i think would be around $11, 000 dollars or so...

Traime un pase while you are at it

You can find good deals on LS1s for $11k or lower. Stick with a LS1 though.

11k should get you something clean with fairly low miles.
