Default SLP Lid Won't Fit MAF

Well, I'm just another guy who ordered an SLP lid and it doesn't fit over the MAF....I guess I'll have to heat it/grind it etc to get it to work and **** it all up. Thanks SLP for the **** quality control. Thought they might've had the size of the lids down by now for cars that are from 2002... guess not.

Thanks for listening to me vent.

Mine fit fine till I went with a Fast 92 intake and TB. Then I had to trim it up a bit to make the fit. You have the stock MAF and intake?

Yeah, they suck. Dont grind it, just heat the **** out of it and get mad when trying to force it on.

They haven't changed the mold in years, it's been a super tight fit for the last decade at least. I had to heat and force mine as well, no grinding was necessary, but it sealed up great once it was on.

How did you guys go about heating the lid? I feel like I might warp it if I don't have a little instruction on how to do this...

I just used a hair dryer. A heat gun would be faster but you'd have to be careful not to get too close or hit it for too long. The boiling water option sounds pretty good too.

Mine was too tight as well, I turned in a space heater in low, got the lid propped just right where the neck started warming slowly, then it squeezed right in. In there for life now probably lol. Water idea probly easier.

I used the hair dryer method. It still wasn't easy to get on, but I got it on and I love it.

Mine fit fine without issue, others have this same problem. I always try making our customers aware of the fitment but at the price we were selling them the little work was worth it. Once theyre on, theyre ON. lmao.

Bad as it was getting it on, I had a much harder time removing it when I sold my SLP lid. Ended up having to make a small relief cut on the bottom.

Lmao. Now if you ever get a new MAF, you'll need a new Lid as well.. SLP knows how to do business

Honestly this doesn't bother me, if I get a bigger MAF, I'll be doing a (bigger)better lid anyways. The downside is trying to clean your MAF, but unless you run a k&n that's not something you should have to do very often

Not a big deal, the torx bits can be removed with the lid still attached to the MAF end by using a short torx socket and slim ratchet. You just leave that end in the lid and then bench clean the center section.

And now it's obvious how much I clean my MAF
